Comedy Bits that would Fail
Saturday, May 30, 2009 @ 10:24 am by Josh Burcham

Did you know that kids born in 1991 are graduating from High School and heading off to college?! I didn’t realize that until yesterday and I felt old. I brought it up last night at poker and we came up with a list of topics that wouldn’t be funny with you were perfroming a comedy rutine in front of this age group. They would have no idea what you were talking about and they are all 90′s based. Make me feel real old. Here is the list:

Creative Caffeine
Thursday, May 28, 2009 @ 9:13 pm by Josh Burcham

Creativity stretches the mind and that it always a good thing. I picked up a book, Caffeine for the Creative Mind, a couple of months ago to help get creative juices flowing. It is filled with 250 exercises that get the creative side of your brain running.
The first task, An ‘E’ Ticket Ride:
Face It: Adults like amusement park rides, too. Actually, they love them as much as kids do. Something about the thrill of a roller coaster or the enchantment of a ride themed after childhood’s favorite stories. Your task today is to create just such a ride. You’re going to create a theme park ride wrapped around your favorite fast food chain. Now that is a theme! Consider the food items, the store design, graphic elements that are used and marketing themes. Create a ride that proudly expresses that fast-food joint’s true value. Hold the mayo please.
Now get to it. Draw out your ride design. Scan it or take a picture of it and post it here. Would love to see what you come up with. I’ll post my in a bit.

Ministry Moments Caught on Tape (4th Edition)
Monday, May 25, 2009 @ 12:39 pm by Josh Burcham

Back to The Office – 40 Days of Community shorts. Interesting factoid: we filmed these in one night and suffered through it. It was long and rough. We went live with the videos one for each week of the seven week series. So ministry leaders, you could do this. It doesn’t take as much as you would think. Granted, I was lucky enough to have a very talented cinematographer/editor. If you don’t watch the Office go check it out and then re-watch these videos. The style of film is dead on. It is all in the small stuff, which isn’t easy to do. You are talented, John!
Weeks three and four of The Office – WildLife Ministries edition.
I was blessed with an amazing team. Your team is so important in having a healthy and successful ministry! Ministry leader, you might have the most talented bunch, but if you don’t work as a team you won’t be able to accomplish God-size vision!

Wisdom from Andrew
Monday, May 25, 2009 @ 10:42 am by Josh Burcham
I was talking through some stuff that I was trying to work through, with Andrew a couple of nights ago. God used him to speak from truth into my life, that really rattled my cage (in a good way) and it was too good to not share with you all. It might not mean anything to you, but it’s my blog and I can share whatever I want.
“Where will you persevere the most serving God and spreading his beautiful love story?”
I got too bogged down in my current situation that I lost focus or better said, I aloud my circumstances to consume each other when they were two separate situations. I aloud something to overpower and take a higher priority than my calling. Andrew brought my focus back and reminded me that I’m called to love God and love people with that simple question.
Life isn’t easy. Things get us down, but we can’t lose focus of what God has called us to do. Don’t let anything or anyone come in between you and that calling. Sometimes God calls us to give up something we really care about, but He always has a plan that will blows our mind. Don’t let life stop you from getting to the place where you will persevere the most serving God and speading his beautiful love story.
Thanks Andrew. Love you, bro and can’t wait till you get back. Enjoy your last month.

Ministry Moments Caught on Tape (3rd Edition)
Sunday, May 24, 2009 @ 3:28 pm by Josh Burcham

Taking a little break from The Office series of videos, these were for a game with played through a series called Questions. Always get a kick out of watching these and laughing at what Brent let us put him through. That’s a real heart for ministry to take some eggs to the head. Enjoy.

Went to a Bar
Sunday, May 24, 2009 @ 2:20 am by Josh Burcham

I’m not a bar guy. I have never really thought highly of bars, because they were never a part of my life. But I went to a bar with a friend tonight and I have to say I liked it. If I was honest, I was nervous. I didn’t know what to expect or for that matter what to do. But I learned something about bars tonight. First, the bar next to my house is a happening place: dance floor, pool tables, video games and a patio. I think I counted at least 6 bar tenders behind the bar and three or four security guards, but people were friendly. More friendly than other place you would hang out at. Probably has something to do with the alcohol, but it was interesting and I would go back.
Here is the truth I walked away with. I’m called to love God and love people. I was intimiated by the bar scene, but have learned it can be a real place to develop relationship to love His people. A place to show Jesus’ love.
I will be going back.
