Bye Bye Starbucks
Wednesday, May 28, 2008 @ 1:09 pm by Josh Burcham
I made official. I quit Starbucks. With working at Apple more hours, it was just really starting to wear on me and I couldn’t find time to dedicate to Ridgepoint. So I say my farewells to St. Arbucks and wish you well. I will miss the times we had and the coffee we drank, but life must go on and for me it will go on without my discount and free coffee. You will be missed and I promise to come visit.

Two New Books
Tuesday, May 27, 2008 @ 6:04 pm by Josh Burcham
Finished up In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day by Batterson. If you haven’t read it, its a must read. Love Mark Batterson’s style of writing and the the wisdom that he writes with. It’s a book I’ll have our launch team and our partner churches read. Picked up to new ones:

Looking forward to both of them. I’ve been waiting for POP goes the Church by Tim Stevens since I first read about it on his blog. Picked up The Jesus of Suburbia by Mike Erre from Rock Harbor (this church has been on my radar for a little while) at Berean last week when I was supposed to be looking for a new small group book.
Not really knowing what to expect out them yet. I’ve started Jesus of Suburbia; I’m in to it this far. A lot like Plastic Jesus just coming from another angle, but same idea. Christian need to start looking to the REAL Jesus, Jesus Christ. Much more intellectual in his style of writing and I’ve been doing a lot of word look ups, which isn’t normal for me. But good. It’s funny, I was just telling Chase that reading makes you smarter, because it forces you to think and grows your learning curve. I was serious when I said it; just wasn’t expecting it to be so true.
I’ve been getting a lot of heat from people as I’ve been talking to about meeting the REAL Jesus. Most people shut down right away. I’ve been looking for a way to get them to connect with journeying to break down typical Christianity and follow Jesus as He walked on this earth, but people are so quick to dismiss the idea because they think their Christianity is working for them. It might be working for them, but it isn’t working for the Kingdom.
I’m ready to break the news about Ridgepoint Church. Just need to find the time to working it into posts. Keep watching and hopefully it will be up by this weekend.

I Know…I'm a Loser
Monday, May 26, 2008 @ 9:08 pm by Josh Burcham
Seriously though. I only want to see where my blog is placed on the list; not for me, but for my blogs sake. I got to beat out the Josh Burcham that draws transformers or whatever he does. But as conceded as it is…I am at the top of Google if you search Josh Burcham.

LONG Weekend
Monday, May 26, 2008 @ 7:14 pm by Josh Burcham
My weekend in a nutshell…
- Campfires
- Sunburns
- Quad Trails
- RVs
- Phase 10
- Tents
- Dogs
- Rattlesnake
- Smores
It was a great, but long weekend and I’m burnt to a crisp. I need to go camping more often. Sorry for the lack of post over the past week, but I’ve been so busy that I’ve forgot that I had a blog. We are working crazy hard on Ridgepoint Stuff and might have a new job. We’ll see. I think I would be a huge culture shock.

Random Randomness
Sunday, May 18, 2008 @ 10:48 am by Josh Burcham
My thoughts and doings from the last couple of days. My only promise for this post is that it will be random thoughts of randomness.
- Watched Pirates of Silicon Valley last night and finished it this morning. It was a good insight the how Apple and Microsoft became who they are today. I knew the story, but seeing it always makes things clicked. I came to some new understandings of things.
- Brent had a surprise party last night for his B-day. It was cool.
- Went to Red Lobster with Chase on Friday. Forgot how much I love that place. I wish I had an income to eat their more frequently!
- Got my Refund from the IRS on Thursday and it went right to my credit cards. Wish I could of spent it on something cool, but you know how it is. How much sweeter would it be to be debt-free!
- Working on Ridgepoint (haven’t decided if I like Ridge Point or Ridgepoint, leaning towards the later) stuff today and Tuesday. I’m starting to like having days off to focus on the church plant. Its crazy how things are all coming together.
- Apparently, I’ve been working more and more hours at Apple and just haven’t realized it, because this last check was a very nice surprise.
- It’s going to be a busy week. I have some self-appointed deadlines for Ridgepoint, Chase and Chels promotion on Wednesday and heading out to going camping this weekend. Going to be a busy week. But looking forward to it.
- Let me leave you with a thought. What has God called you to do? And I don’t know, isn’t a good enough answer. Find out.

Happy Birthday!
Saturday, May 17, 2008 @ 12:03 pm by Josh Burcham
What can I say about my big brother? A lot actually. He is an encouragement to me. He set an example of what a strong Christian man and father are to be. He loves his God, his family and most of all his daughter. He makes the decisions God desires even when it’s hard. Thank you Steve for being you. Love you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Can’t wait to see you this summer.
P.S. I have an amazing family. You don’t stop and think about that often, but they amazing me all the time. Love you guys.
