Something Big – John Waller
Tuesday, April 29, 2008 @ 2:13 pm by Josh Burcham
“Attempt something so big for God that it is sure to fail without Him.” I’m not sure who first spoke these words, but they’ve never left me. I believe the desire to be a part of something greater than ourselves is built into the core of each one of us. That’s the reason I left Georgia to become the worship pastor of a church plant in south Denver called “Southlink.” I believe that this song will strike a chord with many visionary dreamers who are contemplating stepping out and doing something that only God can truly do through them. In his book, “Visioneering,” Andy Stanley said, “A divine vision done God’s way and in God’s timing is sure to succeed.”
Something so big
I wanna be a part of something great
Greater than me
It’s time to dream big dreams
To see Your vision
Become reality
‘Cause it’s for You, by You, those who
Love You wanna do
Something so big
It’s destined to fail without You, Lord
It’s gonna fail without You, Lord
Something so great
It takes a miracle to do
We, Your children
Wanna do something big for You
We, yes, we are gonna sing a brand new song
Something so strong
We will be the sound that wakes the dawn
Something so loud
It’s time for breaking through
‘Cause there are no limits
For he who holds the truth
When it’s for You, and by You, and those who
Love You wanna do
Something bigger, something greater
For the glory of Your splendor
Something bigger, something greater
Tell the story of Your wondrous love
Your wondrous love
Those who love You wanna do
As long as we live, let us do something so big for You

Random Randomness
Sunday, April 27, 2008 @ 11:39 am by Josh Burcham
Still trying to get back in the swing of things, since being out of town for a week. I still haven’t gotten adjusted to the day of the week. I keep thinking today is Monday. But here are some random tid-bits of my life over the past couple of days:
- Is that how you spell tid-bits? I have no idea.
- Horton kids picked me us up at the airport on Thursday. Which is always fun for me to hang with them. Got to hang with them Friday and Saturday.
- We have a lot to do with Ridge Point over the next couple of months. And it’s going to get really busy really fast, but I am stoked at what God is calling us to do. He is calling us at this time, in this place to create an environment for people to meet Jesus.
- Over the next week or so I’ll be thinking out loud on our vision of Ridge Point as I break it down to tangible concepts. Our vision is we want people to meet Jesus. Simple, huh? Not really and it’s doesn’t (or better word, it’s not as small as) mean what you think means at first. It’s just a little deeper then that. Right now it has three parts.
- Also, working through our Core Values. We only have one in stone right now and have a heartbeat that we are working through to put the other in stone.
- Got a tour of the system over at Arrowhead’s Rain building last night from Brent. I think I have a good understanding of how the systems work. Very encouraged after I left; that we do have the ability to do what we are trying to do.
- Looking to sell my truck. Keith says I could get a lot more from it then I thought I could and would lover to unload it and find something small with better gas millage.
- I was challenged by Rick Warren at EXPONENTIAL to be a giving person. I give from time to time, but I don’t give in a way that God wants me to. So I’ve been challenged to give beyond my expenses to come to a point of depends on God in my finances. I’m getting really stoked.
- I’ve made some commitments to God of some things in my life that He convicted me on. To grow in obediences to what He has called me to has been a true journey and a journey I wouldn’t want any other way.
- Off to Apple for work and then a meeting. I’m excited to see what this meeting is going to be like and what is going to be talked about.

Reflecting…
Wednesday, April 23, 2008 @ 6:53 pm by Josh Burcham
We got a lot thrown at us today. A lot of information and a lot of ideas. But we are still trucking. If I was honest I was starting to really feel the weight of the call on our lives and with my human brain was starting to feel discouraged. We are called to fulfill a huge plan that is forty times bigger then John and I. Don’t ask me why I picked 40. It was the first number that popped in my head. And I’m saying how God? How can this happen? Is it possible?
We have a direction that we are headed full-force and asking God for His plan and next steps. We have our ideas, but we want God’s. I keep looking at this vision and saying we can’t do this with just the two of us and for that matter we can’t do it with the five senior pastors. We need the team of people that are called to plant this church.
I took new understanding away from this conference. It came from God, but through Mark Batterson: Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.”As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. . Now let me break it down for you. A light-year is 5.9 trillion miles and our universe is 156 billion light-years wide.
On our best day with our best thoughts they are still 5.9 trillion x 156 billion miles away from God’s thoughts. Does that put perspective to His plans and why we need to be so in tune with what He is calling us to do and how to do it. John 12:49 For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. Jesus was directed on what and how to say truth. Are we taking the time to get God’s direction?
We have some news we are holding on to and I can’t wait to spill the beans. Keep checking back for the news. It will be a week or two still.

A buddy of mine is taking the challenge from Craig over at LifeChurch.tv and filming his One Prayer of Make Us Obedient. He is speaking at The Church At Arrowhead on Thursday at 6:30pm. Definitely (I finally learned how to spell that word) something to be at if you can.
